Barnstormers Take Series Finale
Lancaster, PA – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs came into today’s game against the Lancaster Barnstormers looking to win their fourth series of the second half. Kyle Simon (L, 2-6) pitched a season-long eight innings, but Southern Maryland ultimately fell 4-1 to the Barnstormers.
The Barnstormers struck early against Kyle Simon. Caleb Gindl led off the game for Lancaster with a base hit to right field, advancing to second on an error by Cory Vaughn. The next batter, Joey Terdoslavich slapped a single into center field, scoring Gindl from second base. With Terdoslavich leading off first base, Andrew Aplin launched a two-run home run to right field, giving the Barnstormers a 3-0 lead.
John Anderson (W, 6-5), Lancaster’s starting pitcher, struggled in the top of the second inning. Dean Green was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Cory Vaughn then walked, advancing Dean Green to second with no outs. After Tony Thomas grounded into a force out, Josh McAdams ripped a single into left field, scoring Vaughn and cutting the deficit to 3-1. Both pitchers settled down and pitched very well for the rest of the game.
The score remained 3-1 going into the eighth inning, and Kyle Simon stayed in the game. Josh Bell and Joey Terdoslavich both singled in the inning. With two outs and runners on first and third, K.C. Hobson blooped a single into center field, scoring Bell and giving the Barnstormers a 4-1 advantage.
