Blue Crabs Take One
Waldorf, MD – The Blue Crabs hosted the York Revolution for a double header, with one game counting towards the first half and the other counting towards the second. Game one had no playoff implications but was a 7-0 Blue Crabs victory. Game two could be crucially important for the playoff push, but the Revs won 10-1.
Josh McAdams smacked a double to straight away center field to score a pair in the bottom of the third of game one, and Travis Witherspoon followed with an RBI triple to give Ryan Chaffee (W, 3-4) who made his first start since 2011 today some cushion.
Jon Griffin sent a three run homer in the fourth, and Cory Vaughn laced a solo shot as the Blue Crabs took a decisive 7-0 win.
Game two told a different story. Tommy Thorpe struggled, in just two innings he allowed four earned runs, and a pair of Crabs relievers each allowed a three spot as well.
Wellington Dotel and Angelys Nina combined for six hits and two RBI in the contest as the Revs took game two 10-1, and the Blue Crabs fell to five games back of the Revs in pennant race.
The Blue Crabs will return home tomorrow, Saturday August 31st for game two of a four game set with the York Revolution, with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.
