Brett Lee (0-1) got the ball in his Blue Crabs debut, and the Barnstormers were hot out of the gates. The meat of the ‘Stormers order got the scoring started with a Joey Terdoslavich RBI double and a K.C. Hobson fielder’s choice that brought a runner home.
Lancaster followed with a six run second inning before the Southern Maryland bats got going. With John Anderson (W, 4-1) on the mound for the Barnstormers, Kent Blackstone grounded out but it came at a price for Anderson, as it plated Edwin Garcia, notching the scoring tally at a 8-1 Barnstormer lead through two and half innings played.
Lancaster stayed impeccable in the third inning, as they would plate another four runs, putting the score at 12-1 through a third of a game.
Blue Crab first baseman Jose Julio-Ruiz was a positive takeaway in what was an otherwise gloomy game for the Southern Maryland faithful. Ruiz hit his first two home runs of the season, with a solo shot in the top of the fourth and a two run blast in the sixth. Another positive light for the Blue Crabs to shine in the 14-4 blowout loss was Josh McAdams, a Southern Maryland infielder that came to the mound in a blowout situation for the second time on the season. Much like the first appearance, at the time his first career professional pitching outing, Josh was near perfect.Through a combined four innings on the season he has allowed just one hit, and one run coming on a Hobson solo home run in tonight’s contest.
Rain stopped the bleeding as Lancaster took down Southern Maryland to snap a three game win streak. The Blue Crabs will look for their first series win in the finale with the Barnstormers on Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 PM first pitch.
The Blue Crabs will return home Friday, June 7th for the final game of the homestand, and it’ll be Girl Scout Night/Sleepover and Glow in the Park Night at Regency Furniture Stadium, with the first pitch at 6:35 PM.
