(Waldorf, MD): The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs announce they are bringing back utility-man Ian Yetsko for a third season in Southern Maryland, while also announcing they are signing infielder Aaron Hill, and first baseman Michael Kohn to the club for the upcoming season.
Veteran 31-year-old Ian Yetsko returns to Southern Maryland once again as the super-utility man. In his two years as a Blue Crab, Yetsko has played second base, shortstop, third base, leftfield, rightfield and earlier in his career even logged games as a catcher. With Southern Maryland, Yetsko has shown consistency at the plate, both years hitting a similar average of .255 and .258, while hitting five and seven homers respectively in ‘22 and ‘23. Yetsko is entering his seventh professional season and has played 143 games as a Blue Crab.
Second baseman Aaron Hill comes to the Blue Crabs after spending the last four seasons in the American Association with Milwaulkee. Hill has a career average of .272, and is three RBI’s short of 200 for his pro career. The 29-year-old has tallied 111 steals during his seven year career in independent ball, while also compiling 119 doubles, 17 triples, and 46 long balls. Hill is a proven glove at second base, having a .970 fielding percentage last season, making only three errors in 101 chances.
Left-handed first baseman Michael Kohn joins the fold for the Crabs entering just his second pro season. The six-foot-four 24-year-old played four collegiate years at Quinnipiac before spending his final year locally at George Washington University in DC. At GWU last year, he swatted 11 dingers and hit .333, while driving in 45 runs and adding 17 doubles. He started his professional career after college, and smacked 11 home runs and had 69 RBI’s in almost 300 plate appearances for Idaho Falls.
